Rangers 2 - 0 Hearts

Bollocks.

I hope Paul Hartley gets fit soon. We need him badly.

If I tried to explain how much I hate Rangers, it would probably crash the EA server.

Better luck next time.

Hope your management situation is more stable this year. Was very dissapointed to see Burley go. Your mini-Abramovich has brought some much needed money to the club, but he's a bit of a maniac as well isn't he?

Defeat for Leeds today. Sounded undeserved on the radio.

Tommy, I'd like to see Blackwell with a 'proper' team. Some blowhard on a Leeds forum has been talking about getting Ranieri in and giving him cash to spend - wha? We got money? I think Blackwell deserves a reward for getting us through this patch, and that reward should be to still be manager when we've actually got a proper organisation in place.

There is a massive advert for skips on the side of the East Stand at the moment. I work for the planning department and we reckon it needs planning permission, but noone's saying owt because we're Leeds fans... and it's better than the Lurpak Stand of a couple of years ago. The South stand is closed because it's full of asbestos. Great.

As for racism... well I was young but Leeds was something of a focal point in the eighties. Not the only ones, but Leeds had to deal with it more than most. I've not been as lucky as you; I stood behind a cockney Leeds fan when we played Partizan Belgrade who spent the whole game yelling 'Bomb the foreign cunts!'. He reckoned he was ex-services, therefore he was allowed to shout these things. Hearteningly, he was shouted down by the people around him. But one of the reasons I don't go anymore, apart from cost, was being sat in the midst of people who would mutter 'useless black bastard' under their breath.

Oh, and the awful people who used to tap their watch and stare at me if I missed the kickoff. They bought their programme in the club shop and kept it in a carrier bag. I stood next to them for a year. They moaned constantly, and I hated them.

The Championship has rekindled my interest, too. The Reid season nearly ended football for me. Leeds are going to be crap for years, and I'm sort of comfortable with that. In for the long haul, and so on... took eight years to get back last time!

And, I really like this thread. It's nice to be able to talk football with intelligent folks. I'd like to see this thread go through the season - it's good to see updates on folks' teams and chat about what's going down. Oh, and go search on YouTube for Johan Cruyff. Football as art.

Preston North End

Founding member of the football league.

First team to do the league and cup double. Because of that, if we so choose we never have to wear an away kit. We can demand to wear our home kit no matter where we are playing.

David Beckham played for us.

We sell all our good players.

We drew 1-1 today against QPR and we were shit!

actually i agree. now i think about it half our squad is injured and cardiff are our bogey team. we've never beaten them since being relegated.
derry, butler and stone were all playing with injuries and sullivan, nicholls, and cresswell are all still out. plus horsfield being banned and healy being knackered from international duty. blaming blackwell for that seems pretty silly i guess. i wish we'd kept hulse and livermore though.

is the forum waccoe? i can't post on there. half of the users want blackwell out and half don't consider those that want blackwell out to be real fans. they basically just snipe at each other all day. i don't have the patience anymore. i get angry about it for a couple of hours but i forget about it the next day y'know?

today i joined a fantasy premiership league after being coerced and decide on this team -
Image
it's entirely ex-leeds players who still play in the premiership.
not that i'm bitter but we'll see how they do. i should really have had fowler and pennant but i over-looked them. still, milner, bowyer and hulse did the business today.

Ricardo Teixeira? No,It didn`t.Not at all! I don`t even like him.
There are so many things about France and the french culture that I love. Some of my favorite places, favorite writers(Michel Onfray,Michel Houellebecq,Andre comte-Sponville),not to mention the movie makers, the painters and,of course the gastronomie and the wines.
I also read the books of Peter Mayle about France(A year in Provence, tojour Provence,Encore Provence,French lessons, etc.)
How could I not support a french team too? :)

Feel free to have that team join the league I posted the details for earlier on this thread. Just me and a couple of friends from around the globe.

Weighing in on the whole Blackwell debate. I think it's ridiculous that some Leeds fans are already chanting for him to be out. He took you to the playoffs last season which is pretty much all anyone could have asked of him given the financial situation at Elland Road.

It took Warnock, what? 3 tries to get Sheffield into the Premiership, but he finally did it, and I imagine that Blackwell can eventually do the same if Leeds can get it's house in order.

Not everyone can be the reincarnation of Don Revie, but an unlucky start to the season is no reason to wield the axe.

Just saw the replay of the West Ham - Charlton game. Surprised you didn't win by more.

Really enjoyed West Ham's football last season, and I think I said earlier that Pardew is quality.

Also, won't you be getting Ashton back sometime around Christmas? That can only be a boost for you.

Ditto on the Rangers view.

Aye, Romanov is a bit of a nutter. He's entertaining though. I like how he has criticised pretty much everything about the infrastructure of the Scottish Football Association. As someone who has experienced what it's like (I played for Hearts at under 16 level) I wholeheartedly agree with him.

I hope Celtic get beaten today.

I can't agree with you there. I was raised on a diet of Dalglish, so I follow Celtic and Liverpool quite a bit. (You can just ignore that Greenock Morton comment I made earlier.) Though to be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Hearts win the SPL this year, as 15 odd years of 'Gers and Bhoys has gotten fuckin' dry. (Just like the Arse and the Manure were dull until Chavski came along... but now I'm ready for Liverpool to win it this year, but they're not going to do it if Rafa can't get his midfield sorted. Gerrard on the wing, WTF?)

Yeah, would like to see the SPL shaken up a bit, and I guess Romanov is a good start.

Well, gotta watch Man City and the Chavs now. Just once, during a press interview, I would love to see Stuart Pearce go: "God Save the Queen! We mean it man..." or maybe warble a bit off Flowers of Romance.

Lost 3-0 to Chelsea.

Big arse. No surprise, but...

Welcome back, football season, oh how we have missed you. Mourinho, grrrr. I like to think that his churlishness and lack of dignity come from the nagging feeling that he'll never be rated while he's got unlimited funds behind him, though this is probably just bad cod-psychology and he might just be a spoiled brat.

Still, if you know you're going to get smacked in the mouth, it's always nice to get it out of the way early in the evening.

It was nice to see Nicky Weaver get a game, though. I went with a friend to the Division Two playoff games - big screen at Maine Road and second leg against Wigan (I invaded the pitch at the end - fun!), and then that game at Wembley against Gillingham. Utter chaos, the most insane football match I've ever been to. It was a privelege to watch! And I'll always remember Weaver for his celebrations after the shoot out, watching him leg it around behind the goal while the team tried to catch him...

The end of the game was carnage, so many people had left but came rushing back when City equalised, it was like being on terraces at the end. One guy we were with didn't see any of City's goals, he'd left when the comeback goals were scored and then couldn't face watching the penalties.

Great times.

Tommy, waccoe is intolerable. I read it sometimes to catch up on rumours and stuff but my patience wears incredibly quickly. I prefer the Squareball, even if it does have it's outright weird moments. At the moment, the sack Blackwell line is gaining common acceptance, but I can't comprehend the proposed replacements - Glenn Hoddle? Has it really come to this? Glenn fucking Hoddle?

That fantasy league team is awful to look at. I meant to add yesterday, the pain of that whole era is that it's was brilliant, but to find out it was built on absolutely nothing - that we didn't even own most of the players! - was just too bitter a blow to stand. I can't enjoy the memories very much because I know how it ends now. Apparently Ken Bates took a disliking to Peter Ridsdale's behaviour at the Cardiff game yesterday and has banned him from Elland Road. Not before time!

the ridsdale banning is hilarious.
i've completely changed my mind about ken bates since he's been at leeds. he kicked all the shysters out of the club and he isn't afraid to say what's on his mind. can't argue with the financial turn around can you? he's a bastard but now at least he's our bastard.
it took one mention of glenn fucking hoddle today to make me back blackwell again. hoddle can fuck right off.

The day I knew something was going very wrong at Elland Road: when I stood in the Kop Bar and watched an advert for this dvd:

My word. What the fuck did he think he was doing?

It wasn't a great game for City, but I think there were a few positive signs you can take away from the game. I mean, at least you didn't end up like Fulham there did you?

Biggest disappointment for me was Samaras though, he just wasn't able to get into the flow of the game, and that was too bad, because he could be key for you this season. Corradi looks like quite a worker as long as he can keep his temper under control. Though I'm not sure about playing Corradi and Samaras together, as neither of them have the pace to really open up a defence and keep them off balance, and without enough support from the wings, their heading ability is kind of negated. I would play Samaras/Vassell to start and then bring Corradi and Dickov on when I just wanted to irritate the fuck out of an opponent.

You've got Redknapp's Pompey next, and then the Arse after that. Best of luck.

...dislike Chavski, but I will say this, despite all the crap that's been said about him diving, etc. and how overrated he is for the price tag, I think Drogba is quality. (the price tag wasn't his fault) He has a specific role in that team, and he plays it to perfection. He's probably got the best heading technique in the world right now, and that third goal was top drawer.
