New EA sendspace thread

I am not sure if many of you have used sendspace.com before but a couple of other lists I am on use it to share mp3 files of records that we have on vinyl but want to also have for portable players.

We should start doing this on electrical. It is free to send up to 100 MB I think and the links are public so there is no signing up.

oh and before I get kerbled to the gmail account....yes I know this is similar however it seems a bit more user friendly to upload and share on sendspace. No logging in and it seems to be a bit faster as well.

I said for those of us with the vinyl copy and who want the MP3. Surely you are not suggesting that I buy the vinyl and then pay for the same thing again in a different format?

I have worked in record stores for years and if one of my customers buys something on vinyl I will let them import the CD version if I have it used.

I don't need to buy them b/c I already own them on LP. Thanks for doing this pal. This is a great idea for getting digital copies of of stuff you have on LP.

Besides, I would think that most folks on here are ethical enough to buy things they like, rather than just take the download.

If I was one of those people who roams around 10 hours a day listening to an ipod when not talking on a cellphone, I'd just buy the CD verson then. LPs often don't sound as good as their CD counterpart anyway, so in many cases, you're probably better off with the CD version of it in the first place. Anyone who only buys vinyl because he thinks that all LPs sound better than their CD counterparts is a fool... it's a case by case thing. So:

Potential of low quality vinyl against guarantee of a decent sounding CD + ease of MP3 transfer = CD only purchase.

If I was a "vinyl snob" who walked around exclaiming "I don't own a CD player", then I'd probably just encode the MP3 files myself off of my vinyl copy, since more than half the MP3s you come across online sound like total shit and are poorly edited anyway.

Oh, and for the record, I do own many things on both CD and LP, so I can listen to them in my car. I've been working in record stores for most of the last 17 years, so I will admit that it's a little more feasible for me to do that than for your "average consumer" to, since I typically only pay about $2 for a CD.

Uh, sorry for mentioning to him that like him, I too work in a record store. I don't automatically assume that everyone who reads something I post in a thread on this board knows my entire work / life history. I don't know what many of the people on here do. Hell, the only thing I know about you is that you DWARFED THE TRAVIS BEAN, because you posted it on a ton of Travis Bean related message boards when you made your all aluminum guitars and basses years ago. I guess I've got some catching up to do on you; I feel bad that I don't know anything other than the fact that you DWARFED THE TRAVIS BEAN, and that many people find your band's stage set-up to be hilariously inspired by Shellac's.

154 look down toward the bottom center...about 2 inches from the bottom. the little link is there.

If you scroll down the page you will see a small link that says

You click on that file to download. I think you can only download one at a time but they are pretty quick.
