No, this isn't some internet apology/revelation.
It's a documentary/short film about that dude the "Epic beard man". The guy with the bus fight from the youtubes a ways back.

I absolutely adore these kinds of things, and this is VERY well done.
I also could ID almost every external scene, seeing as how it's Oakland.
20 minutes, but well worth your time, compelling, funny and messed up too.

Hah! yeah, not nearly old enough for that. Interesting though, I didn't know a lot of that history.

A batshit crazy guy who growls out these grandiose stories, and struts through life with a 'real life is still like a prison yard' mentality.

I kinda liked that he stood his ground when the dude on he bus tried to punk him out, but he is not unique or even noteworthy in any way.

Well, perhaps as a snapshot of the routine and daily function of a mentally ill person who is not being treated effectively. It's like the show 'Intervention', except this guy has brain chemistry issues beyond the long term effects of the substances he uses, and nobody is getting together to offer this guy a stay at a country club rehab center.

This dude needs less booze, street drugs, and immersion in the thug life shit; and a little more one-on-one time with mental health professionals and perhaps some tweaking with his cocktail of mood stabilizers and anti-psychotic meds.

The part where he talks about his Dad and the apology for the long term parental abuse, and the stories about reform school, prison, and the spousal abuse between his parents as well as his own relationships were all pretty clear indicators that this cat has had some pretty severe issues his entire life.

I found it very interesting the way he was all tough guy and acting like a strutting peacock with feathers in full plume while dealing with the interviewer in the room, then instantly a soft spoken gentleman and 'that's me, Sir' with that caller on the telephone who was obviously a perfect stranger.

I'm also a sucker for documentaries about outsiders, and a lot of outsiders tend towards the imbalanced.

I know what you are saying about these kinds of things being potentially exploitive, but I didn't get that from this at all.
