The Freshman Poetics:

Harry "Caray" Kennedy - drums
Andrew Fleischer - guitar
Matt Higginbotham - bass
Dean J. Quick - vocals

[They] have the kind of simple eloquence that moves the goths and the jocks equally. Coming soon to a stage near you!

YUCK!!! Hand held emotive musics. There is enuf of this in my town. Well need a festival to kill all of 'em.

Wouldn't that rule? Public execution of all the emo puffs in america...I can see it now. And it is good. I'm convinced the popularity of emo is another of the key steps in the continuing process of what George Carlin termed "America's pussyfication."
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

Bump. It's been a while. And here's a hint for the brave soul who wants to take a stab at defining this group: they're a Softiesesque acoustic Metallica cover band called Narcoleptica.

Autumn Lullaby

LR:
Abel Thorough: lead guitar, vocals
Zac Nathan: Mandolin, "Uke," Banjo, Chimes, Saw
Kelly Northfield: cello, percussion, vocals
Adam Lark: Vocals, guitar

Straight out of Portland, OR, Autumn Lullaby provide the perfect soundtrack to a cold day in the city. The band's rustic folk melodies make a nice backdrop to songwriter Adam Lark's thoughtful and sometimes very personal lyrics. Lark, in an almost husky voice, croons poetical gems such as "Like the howles of distant wolves/memories of you/send chills through me/on this bitter night." However, Lark's lyrics can also have a wry and intelligent political side, as can be heard in the rocking jug band number "Blue State Blues." The positive energy of this song is a relative departure from Autumn Lullaby's general song base, though, which tends to be more sombre and pretty. So pull your scarf tight, sip on a cup of tea and enjoy the mellow melodies of Autumn Lullaby!

name: gopher above ground

l-r:
mike culligan - bass
tim harris - lead guitar (and he thinks of himself as lead guitarist)
tony nguyen - drums
alex berkhoffer - guitar/vocals

sort of "ska-punk-indie-prog-metal-reggae-funk" band from (insert college town) usa.

one night after studying for their soc 201 - "sex, race, ethnicity and the media" course at u of _, couple mike and alex, were talking about "what the fuck" they were going to do after finishing up with their respective liberal arts degrees. they'd been watching dawson's creek for years and found a lot of great music that way so they discuussed starting a band. tim, still in high school, heard about this opportunity from his brother, brett, alex's rommate's co-worker over at OSH. using the "plexus," the college newspaper, they recruited tony on drums.their sound is reported to be a nice amalgam of p-funk, modest mouse, the toasters, and tool.

gopher above ground will be playing friday night at the student union.

fun game!

Gopal 'Paul' Patel - Bass/Sitar

The year 2002 saw the spawning of Sewertramp. After crawling forth from the primordeal muck of the murky depths of the Birmingham death metal scene and recieved critical acclaim from the likes of Kerranng! with their Seminal release 'The Wings of Sorrow'. They have since evolved on their latest release 'Kali Laughs', with the addition of Seamus Martinez, who's etheral keyboard work adds an otherworldly ambiance to the pounding machinegun rhythm section of Theophrastos and Patel, and adding yet more dimension and counterpoint to the skull crushing riffage, blistering leads, and angst ridden vocals of Simon Crabbe.
